National Trust for Scotland

The main objective of the Interpretation team at The National Trust for Scotland is to ensure the provision of high quality, accessible interpretation that will enhance the visitor experience.

The National Trust for Scotland has in its care over 120 properties and over 180,000 acres of the most important and varied countryside in Scotland. This includes 250 miles of coast, from the dramatic islands of Fair Isle and St Kilda to the picturesque scenery of Culzean in Ayrshire. From castles and houses to Munros via gardens, mills and battlefields, the varied nature of the properties poses an exciting challenge for the Trust's three Interpretive Planners. A recent audit of the interpretation at Trust properties revealed that there is much work to be done. Time and money are not unlimited but the team has recently produced an Interpretive Strategy to take interpretation at the Trust boldly forward into the years ahead.
